Facial Fillers long-term absorbable polylactic acid

There are many treatments that are based on injection of fillers to soften wrinkles and expression lines. One of the newer ones used for this purpose is polylactic acid, which has the distinction of being biocompatible, biodegradable, non-allergenic, nontoxic and reabsorbed.

This means that it will be rejected, is eliminated naturally, does not alert the immune system and is completely reabsorbed. Its effect extends to 18 months.

Polylactic acid implants to no more than 2 or 3 mm subcutaneously. It works by stimulating the production of collagen and fibrosis creating a reaction that increases the thickness of the dermis in superficial depressed areas. Read the rest of this entry »
