How to prevent most common diseases that shorten and diminish the quality of life of older people has been the subject of debate at the Eighth Congress of the Spanish Society of Anti-Aging Medicine and Longevity (SEMAL) held recently in Seville. The experts at these conferences have debated the best methods to avoid developing cardiovascular disease, cancer, Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases associated with old age like Alzheimer’s.
One of the issues addressed in the congress was orthomolecular nutrition and its therapeutic power to achieve optimal health. This discipline maintains that the diet should be customized and respecting each person’s biochemical individuality, thus only can get that nutrition becomes a source of energy and vitality and that the person is in a state of harmony.
Along with this practice has also been covered therapeutic use of antioxidants to prevent aging, and other issues that directly affect the health of the elderly such as sexuality and genetics.
